National Council for Future Technology represents pivotal step toward bolstering Jordan’s position, says Int@j CEO

Amman, Jan. 13 (Petra) – The Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan (Int@j) emphasized that His Majesty King Abdullah’s directives to form the National Council for Future Technology represent a pivotal step toward bolstering Jordan’s position as a leading nation in the technology sector.

Int@j’s CEO, Nidal Bitar, stated that this initiative reflects the royal vision of supporting digital transformation and future foresight, particularly amid global competition in adopting advanced technologies.

Bitar told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the council, under the supervision of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah and chaired by the Prime Minister, underscores the importance of this initiative. It ensures swift implementation of high-impact projects and the development of clear, strategic plans built on measurable performance indicators, guaranteeing the achievement of the desired objectives to enhance Jordan’s digital economy.

He noted that Jordan’s technology sector is one of the most vibrant and rapidly developing industries in the country. Over the past years, the Kingdom has made significant strides in this area. As a key advocate for the sector’s development, Int@j views the National Council for Future Technology as a substantial opportunity to strengthen partnerships among the public, private, and academic sectors.

Bitar stressed that fostering collaboration among stakeholders will enable Jordan to capitalize on global technological transformations, positively impacting the national economy by enhancing the competitiveness of local companies and opening new horizons for innovation and investment.
He highlighted the importance of focusing on projects that bring tangible, practical advancements, enhancing Jordan’s status as a regional technology hub, and contributing to the growth of a prosperous digital society.

Bitar pointed out that Jordan possesses exceptional capabilities in cybersecurity, positioning it as a regional center in this critical field. He emphasized the significance of utilizing the council as a platform for regional and international cooperation and dialogue to drive innovation and adopt modern technologies.

Citing a study conducted by Int@j, Bitar revealed that 63% of Jordanian technology companies have begun integrating artificial intelligence into their products and services, reflecting the sector’s dynamism and readiness to align with global trends. Additionally, 42% of these companies are incorporating data analytics tools and technologies into their offerings, enabling them to leverage big data to improve customer experiences and make strategic, insight-driven decisions.

These statistics, Bitar explained, underscore not only the sector’s adaptability and resilience but also the tremendous opportunities for fostering innovation and supporting the digital economy.

He reaffirmed Int@j’s commitment to supporting the government and the National Council for Future Technology by enhancing collaboration across public, private, and academic sectors. The association will focus on developing local talent, implementing impactful projects, and positioning Jordan at the forefront of technological transformation regionally and globally.

Bitar also emphasized the importance of advancing this national vision by working with the government, private sector, and educational institutions to build the digital capacities of human resources, foster innovation, and promote entrepreneurship.
