National team will face different football schools in preparation for World Cup, says head coach

Amman, Sept 3 (Petra) – The national football team head coach, Jamal Salami, affirmed that the upcoming match against Russia marks the first preparatory stage in the team’s build-up for the World Cup, noting the players’ readiness for the game.

Salami made the remarks during a press conference held Wednesday evening in Moscow ahead of the friendly match against the Russian national team scheduled for Thursday.

He indicated that the team’s upcoming phase will include playing matches against teams that represent a variety of football schools, such as Europe, Latin America, and Africa, aiming to reach the World Cup with peak technical, physical, and mental preparedness.

“Friendly matches serve different purposes than official games, allowing the coaching staff to test a larger pool of players and evaluate tactical plans that enhance collective performance,” Salami explained.

He also acknowledged that the World Cup qualification journey faced several challenges that sidelined some key players, but collective spirit and teamwork enabled the team to achieve its objectives.

Midfielder Mousa Al-Taamari said that the team’s strong group spirit will serve as a driving force against a formidable opponent like Russia, describing the match as a valuable opportunity to gain international experience and maximize the benefits of this encounter.
