Projects Localised in Nizwa Industrial City in 2024
Nizwa,
6 May (ONA) — Nizwa Industrial City, an affiliate of the Public Establishment
for Industrial Estates “Madayn”, marked key growth indicators in 2024 with 19
new projects localised out of 21 investment applications received.
These projects, covering more than 131,000 sqm,
represent a combined investment of RO 28 million. This brings the total number
of localised projects in Nizwa Industrial City to 186, with cumulative
investments exceeding RO 504 million.
The
industrial city spans a total area of 7.2 million sqm and currently employs
6,100 workers, with an Omanisation rate of 45%.
Eng.
Ishaq Ibrahim Al Kharousi, Acting Director General of Nizwa Industrial City,
stated that Madayn, in cooperation with the Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises
Development (ASMED), is progressing with the implementation of Madayn
Entrepreneurship Complex project at a cost of RO 1.2 million. The project
includes the construction of 10 workshops designated for SMEs, with the completion
rate reaching 60% by the end of the first quarter of 2025.
Al
Kharousi also noted that consultancy studies have commenced for the planned
residential area, along with preparations set to begin with the general
maintenance works for the facilities. Additionally, the masterplan for Phase 5,
covering 4 million sqm, has been completed.
On
the environmental sustainability front, Al Kharousi noted that over 1,700 trees
have already been planted, with ongoing efforts to add another 600 to further
expand the green areas. Several companies have initiated studies to adopt solar
energy to reduce electricity consumption. Meanwhile, projects specialising in
the recycling of aluminium and copper are being localised within the industrial
city.
