Northern State Government Secretary-General Meets Swiss Development Delegation

Dongola, Jan. 29, 2026 (SUNA) – The Secretary-General of the Northern State Government Mahjoub Mohamed Sidahmed, tasked with administering the duties of the State Wali, met today with a joint delegation from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the Swiss Embassy in the Arab Republic of Egypt. The meeting was attended by State Commissioner of Humanitarian Aid Dr. Wael Mohamed Sharif and Representative of the Secretary of Social Affairs Muna Salah-Eddin Nugud.The discussions focused on humanitarian issues in Northern State, particularly the conditions of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and ongoing humanitarian challenges and explored ways to enhance coordination between the state government and international organizations to support affected communities.State Commissioner of Humanitarian Aid Dr. Wael Mohamed Sharif stated that the Secretary-General was briefed on the objectives of the delegation’s visit, which included a field assessment of IDPs arriving from Darfur and Kordofan. The delegation also reviewed the efforts of the state government, local communities, and the Humanitarian Aid Commission and its partners in providing assistance at Al-Affadh Camp in Al-Dabba locality.He added that the meeting addressed gaps and unmet needs at the camp, reaffirming the commission’s commitment to provide all necessary facilities to humanitarian organizations, thereby improving the humanitarian response and enhancing services for displaced persons.AS/BH
