OCCI Discusses Challenges Facing Gulf Private Sector

Muscat, 7 May (ONA) —— Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry
(OCCI), in collaboration with the Federation of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)
Chambers, today organized a workshop titled “Challenges Facing the GCC Private
Sector within the GCC Common Market.” The event was held at the Chamber’s
headquarters in Muscat.

Zakariya Abdullah Al Saadi, CEO of OCCI, stated that the
workshop aligns with the Chamber’s strategic efforts to support the private
sector, in line with the priorities of Oman Vision 2040, which include
improving the business environment and expanding economic diversification.

He emphasized that GCC countries have made significant strides
toward economic integration, with the GCC Common Market being one of its key
outcomes. Al Saadi stressed the importance of collaborative efforts among Gulf
chambers to address challenges, enhance joint cooperation, and propose
practical solutions to improve the efficiency of the GCC Common Market and
support its objectives.

The workshop highlighted challenges faced by Oman’s private
sector in intra-GCC trade, aiming to develop solutions. Key discussions focused
on regulatory and legal hurdles in cross-border trade, logistics, customs
procedures, financing, and investment in intra-GCC trade projects. The session
also explored incentives and requirements for boosting trade among GCC states.

Attendees included Noora Abdulrahman Al Salim, Senior Director
of Institutional Relations and Communication at the Federation of GCC Chambers,
along with several business owners.
