Industry Committee Discusses Impact of Electricity, Gas Pricing on Sector

2 June (ONA) — The Industry Committee of Oman Chamber of Commerce and
Industry (OCCI) discussed during its second meeting in 2025 the impact of
electricity and gas pricing on production costs in the industrial sector and
its implications for the competitiveness of Omani products and industries.

The
meeting was chaired by Tawfiq Abdulhussein Al Lawati, Chairman of the Industry
Committee at OCCI, in the presence of committee members and representatives of
relevant authorities at the Chamber’s headquarters in Muscat.

During
the meeting, the committee reviewed a proposal on the business environment in
the industrial sector, including an assessment of incentives offered in special
and free economic zones, as well as a review of fees in line with industrial
development goals.

The
meeting also emphasized the importance of providing financing facilities and
tax exemptions for investors in renewable energy to help reduce costs and
enhance industrial sustainability.
