Gaza, Jan. 6 (Petra) – The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has expressed deep concern over reports of the death of a one-month-old child due to hypothermia, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health. This marks the eighth child death due to the cold in less than three weeks, a tragedy that could have been prevented if the necessary materials to protect these children were available to their families.
The OCHA office stated receiving daily reports of civilian deaths and injuries across Gaza due to ongoing hostilities, which also cause widespread destruction and displacement.
The office emphasized the need to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure, including humanitarian workers, convoys, and assets, in accordance with international humanitarian law.
