Amman, Oct. 7 (Petra) – The month of October 2024 recorded the highest percentage of traffic accidents resulting in injuries, accounting for 9.4 percent of all injury-related accidents that occurred during the year, according to a recent report.
The Traffic Department stressed that adherence to traffic laws and responsible driving is not merely an individual duty but a collective commitment that helps protect lives and ensure road safety. The department urged drivers to observe discipline on the roads and avoid dangerous behaviors while driving.
It emphasized the importance of wearing seat belts, refraining from using mobile phones while driving, maintaining a safe distance between vehicles, and avoiding illegal parking and sudden lane changes, noting that such violations have a direct impact on the occurrence of accidents and injuries.
The department said road safety is a shared responsibility that requires public awareness and cooperation from all road users. It added that the decisions drivers make behind the wheel can determine their fate and that of others, urging everyone to embrace a culture of civilized driving that preserves lives and reduces accidents.
