Amman, Nov. 6 (Petra)– The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned the Israeli occupation authorities’ approval of the construction of 356 new settlement units in occupied Jerusalem.
In a statement released on Thursday and carried by the Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA), the OIC stressed that this move constitutes a war crime under international law and relevant United Nations resolutions particularly UN Security Council Resolution 2334 and the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice.
The General Secretariat also warned of the grave consequences of the continued escalation of violence and terrorism by extremist settler militias in the occupied West Bank, carried out under the protection of Israeli occupation forces.
It further called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and take urgent and decisive action to end the culture of impunity, and to hold the perpetrators accountable for their crimes against the Palestinian people, their land, and their property.
