Air to Operate Direct Flights to Tashkent
Muscat,
23 Feb 2026 (ONA) — Oman Air has announced the launch of direct flights
between Muscat and Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, starting in June 2026.
This move marks a significant step in enhancing the airline’s international
destination network.
The
new service will operate with a frequency of two flights per week, providing
passengers with streamlined access between the two capitals and strengthening
aerial connectivity between the Sultanate of Oman and the Central Asian region.
Tashkent becomes the eighth destination announced by the company since last
December.
Tashkent,
one of Uzbekistan’s largest cities, is an emerging tourist destination renowned
for its unique culture, ancient historical landmarks, and recreational parks.
These flights are expected to support inbound tourism to the Sultanate of Oman,
in addition to strengthening bilateral trade and cultural ties between the two
nations. Drawing from their historic locations on the “Silk Road,”
the Sultanate of Oman and Uzbekistan share a rich civilizational heritage and
cultural depth, offering travelers the opportunity to explore two culturally
distinct yet historically linked destinations.
Con
Korfiatis, Chief Executive Officer of Oman Air, explained that the launch of
the Tashkent destination reflects Oman Air’s ongoing focus on building a
commercially sustainable route network that balances direct demand with
strategic emerging markets.
Central
Asia represents a region of increasing importance for both tourism and business
travel. This new service is designed to support the Sultanate of Oman’s broad
tourism ambitions by attracting visitors from Uzbekistan and the surrounding
region.
He
further noted that this station will grant Oman Air passengers seamless access
to one of Central Asia’s most attractive destinations. Furthermore, these
flights, which take only 4 hours, will provide a convenient option for both
leisure and business travelers.
