Club Continues to Lead Handball First Division League

3 Mar 2026 (ONA) — Oman Club maintained its lead in the finals of the Oman
General Handball First Division League for the 2025/2026 sports season after
concluding the first phase of the second (final) round in first place with 6
points, following three consecutive victories over Muscat, A’Seeb, and Nizwa
clubs.

Oman
Club began its campaign in this stage with a significant 23–21 victory over
Muscat Club, before defeating A’Seeb Club with a score of 28–25. It concluded
its matches with a wide 42–29 victory over Nizwa Club, confirming its readiness
to compete for the title and continuing its strong performances in the
championship.

The
remaining matches of the stage witnessed close competition among the four
teams; A’Seeb Club defeated Nizwa Club 27–23, while Muscat Club managed to achieve
two victories, the first against Nizwa Club with a score of 33–23, and the
second against A’Seeb Club with a score of 23–21. Consequently, Muscat Club
occupies second place with 4 points, followed by A’Seeb Club with two points,
while Nizwa Club remained without points at the conclusion of this stage.

The
competitions of the second phase of the finals commence this evening, amid
expectations of strong confrontations between the four clubs seeking to secure
a spot in the final match. The Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bousher will
host two matches today: the first brings together Nizwa Club and A’Seeb Club,
while the second match features Muscat Club against Oman Club.

Competitions
will continue next Friday with Muscat Club facing Nizwa Club and A’Seeb Club
taking on Oman Club, while the stage concludes on Monday with a match between
Nizwa Club and Oman Club, and another between A’Seeb Club and Muscat Club.

The
results of this round will determine the final standings of the teams, as the
second and third-placed teams will meet on Thursday, 12 March, in a playoff
match. The winner will qualify for the final match scheduled for Sunday, 15
March, to face the top-ranked team at the end of this stage.

It
is noteworthy that the first round of the league saw Oman Club top the
standings with 14 points, followed by A’Seeb Club with 10 points, and then
Muscat Club and Nizwa Club with 8 points each. Meanwhile, the clubs of Majees,
Al Shabab, Saham, and Salalah were unable to reach the second round after
occupying fifth through eighth places.
