Oman, Egypt Discuss Means of Enhancing Industrial and Investment
Integration
Muscat, 22 Dec 2025 (ONA) — Qais
Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion,
received today Kamel Al-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial
Development and Minister of Transport and Industry
of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The meeting reviewed ways to
activate bilateral investments between the Sultanate of Oman and the Arab Republic
of Egypt. This aims to facilitate the access of Omani products to African
markets and leverage the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA)
agreement, enhancing opportunities for trade and investment expansion and
supporting the interests of both sides.
The two sides discussed the
potential for achieving industrial integration in several promising fields, to
maximize the benefits from the Greater Arab Free Trade Area agreement.
Both sides appreciated the
efforts made to expedite the completion of Memoranda of Understanding regarding
the unification of acceptance requirements for goods, products, and services,
as well as the field of anti-dumping, subsidies, and safeguards. This aims to
achieve common goals and strengthen pathways of economic and industrial
cooperation between the two countries. They also agreed to organize an economic
forum in coordination between the Chambers of Commerce in the Sultanate of Oman
and the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The meeting was attended by Dr.
Saleh Said Masan, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and
Investment Promotion for Commerce and Industry and Yasser Mohamed Ahmed
Shaaban, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Sultanate of Oman.
On a separate occasion, Qais Mohammed
Al Yousef met with some Egyptian businesspersons. During the meeting, they
reviewed the investment opportunities available in the Sultanate of Oman, as
well as current and future projects. This contributes to enhancing economic and
industrial partnerships between the two sides, supporting the expansion of
joint commercial activity, and augmenting the volume of trade exchange between
the two countries.
Al Yousef emphasized the
importance of transitioning Omani-Egyptian economic relations to broader
horizons based on joint manufacturing and export. This, he said, would
contribute to enhancing added value, stimulating the establishment of joint
industrial projects in priority sectors, and transferring expertise and modern
technologies.
It is worth noting that the
volume of trade exchange between the Sultanate of Oman and the Arab Republic of
Egypt during the first half of this year reached approximately RO 97.6 million.
Omani imports from Egypt recorded a growth of 16.6 percent, reaching RO 44.3
million, while Omani exports to the Egyptian market amounted to RO 53.3 million.
The number of registered companies with Egyptian shareholding in the Sultanate
of Oman reached 4,647 by November 2025.
