Oman, Eritrea Discuss Ways to Enhance
Cooperation in Commercial, Investment Fields

Muscat, 15 Oct (ONA) — Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, today
received Nesredin Mohammed Saleh, Minister of Trade and Industry in the
Republic of Eritrea, who is on a two-day official visit to the Sultanate of
Oman.

During the visit, the Eritrean minister will meet officials from the public and private sectors to discuss ways of
developing economic relations between Oman and Eritrea.

Al Yousef and Nesredin Mohammed Saleh reviewed existing cooperation in commercial, industrial and investment
sectors. They discussed opportunities for establishing partnerships in promising sectors,
including mining, converting industries, tourism, food security and logistic
services. They discussed ways to expand cooperation between private sector
establishments in the two countries.

The two sides also discussed cooperation
in the fields of energy, minerals, livestock and fisheries, in addition to chances
to open up direct channels for facilitating trade and imports. They discussed scopes
for holding an Omani-Eritrean businessmen’s forum to review joint investment
in productive sectors.

Al Yousef pointed out that the visit
constitutes a step forward to consolidate economic relations and explore new areas of
cooperation that would serve the two countries’ common interests within the objectives
set for Oman Vision 2040.

As part of its efforts to diversify markets and attract quality investments, the Ministry is embarked
on measures to support economic partnerships with African countries, Al Yousef said.

During his visit, the Eritrean Minister of Trade and Industry will have a close look at Oman’s
experience in improving the business environment, developing
industrial investments and expanding logistic and export services.
