6 May (ONA) —— The Sultanate of Oman hosted the annual General Assembly meeting
of the Energy Regulators Regional Association (ERRA), coinciding with the
association’s two-day annual conference at the Oman Convention and Exhibition
Center. The event saw broad participation from regulatory bodies and member
states.

Chaired
by Dr. Mansoor Talib Al Hinai, Chairman of Authority for Public Services
Regulation, the meeting addressed strategic topics, including the approval of
ERRA’s 2025 action plan and budget, operational and training programs for
2025–2026, and a review of 2024 meeting outcomes. Discussions also covered
proposed arrangements for the 2026 meetings.

Assembly
members highlighted the significance of this high-profile event, which
underscores Oman’s growing role in regional and international energy
governance. They praised the nation’s institutional capabilities and readiness
to lead future energy dialogues, setting a benchmark for organizing specialized
forums.

The
agenda included presentations by ERRA’s committees, such as the *Electricity
Markets and Economic Regulation Committee, where Hassan Taqi Al Lawati, the
committee’s chairman, presented on “Grid Investment, Regulatory Assessment
Methods, and Incentives.”

The
General Assembly meetings concluded ERRA’s annual conference, organized by
Oman’s Authority for Public Services Regulation. The conference explored key
themes, including: Strengthening regulatory frameworks to enhance
competitiveness; Promoting technological innovation and strategic investments
in energy infrastructure; Addressing supply chain challenges and fostering
regional cooperation; And leveraging market integration among member states and
global trade opportunities.

These
discussions were supported by 15 working papers presented by 30+ experts,
economists, and researchers in energy and sustainable energy from Oman and
worldwide.
