Oman
is Guest of Honor at Rabat International Author Film Festival
Rabat,
9 Nov (ONA) — The Sultanate of Oman is participating as the Guest of Honor in
the 30th edition of the Rabat International Author Film Festival, in
celebration of the Omani cinematic movement and Oman’s efforts in supporting
cultural and creative industries. The festival continues until 14 November.
The
opening ceremony witnessed a special tribute to Omani cinema, attended by Khalid
Salim Bamkhalef, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Kingdom of Morocco,
who indicated that this participation embodies the depth of the strong fraternal
and historical relations between the two countries, and reflects the keenness to
continuously enhance cultural and artistic cooperation.
The
Oman Film Society is participating with a diverse program that includes film
screenings, seminars, and workshops, in addition to the participation of
Director Ahmed Al Hadhari on the International Jury, and the Sultanate of
Oman’s participation in the official competition with the film Al Majhool (The Unknown)
by Director Mohammed Al Kindi.
An
Omani Cinematic Night will be held during the festival events, featuring the
screening of six films that represent new creative experiences in Omani cinema.
This will be accompanied by a seminar on Omani-Moroccan cinematic relations, a
presentation on the “Make Your Film in Oman” initiative, and a
scientific paper on Sociology between Oman and Morocco.
This
participation affirms the prominent position that Omani cinema has come to
occupy in international forums, the Sultanate of Oman’s continuous efforts to
advance the creative industries sector, empower national talents, and solidify
Oman’s cultural and artistic presence on the map of Arab and international
cinema.
