2026

Muscat,
9 Feb 2026 (ONA) — The Board of Directors of the Oman Olympic Committee has
approved the rosters of the national teams participating in the Asian Beach
Games to be held in Sanya, the People’s Republic of China, in 2026.

The
Sultanate of Oman will participate in six sports: beach soccer, beach handball,
beach athletics, modern pentathlon, beach volleyball (Team A), and aquatic
sports.

This
approval came during the board’s first meeting of the year, held today under
the chairmanship of Azzan Qais Al Said, Chairman of the Oman Olympic Committee.

In
his opening remarks, the Chairman emphasized the importance of the upcoming
period and the sporting and organizational commitments scheduled for this year,
calling for continued teamwork to achieve the committee’s established goals.

Regarding
institutional organization, the board members reviewed the Unified Statutes for
Gulf Sports Federations, examining key regulatory clauses aimed at unifying
institutional efforts among sports federations across the GCC countries. The
board also reviewed the minutes of the 23rd General Assembly of the Union of
Arab National Olympic Committees, held on 8 November 2025, in the Kingdom of
Saudi Arabia on the sidelines of the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games, as well as
the resulting recommendations and decisions related to the Arab Olympic
movement.

The
meeting further discussed the administrative status of board members from
sports federations accompanying national teams within official Oman Olympic
Committee delegations.

This
discussion aimed to ensure clear administrative roles and responsibilities
during international participations.

Additionally,
members were named to the Omani Committee for Dispute Resolution and Sports
Arbitration within the Oman Olympic Committee.

The
board also deliberated on a proposal to form a public relations, programs, and
events team to enhance the committee’s institutional presence and organize
accompanying activities and events with efficiency and professionalism.

The
board members reviewed the Oman Olympic Committee’s annual administrative
report for 2025, which included the most prominent programs, initiatives, and
activities implemented over the past year. Furthermore, the board examined the
committee’s financial position as of 31 December 2025, and discussed financial
aspects related to the progress of work.
