Participates in Meeting of Islamic Development Bank Group

Algiers,
21 May (ONA) — The Sultanate of Oman today took part in the 50th Annual
Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group,
which currently convenes in Algiers.

Sultan
Salim Al Habsi, Minister of Finance, heads Oman’s delegation at the meeting,
themed “Diversifying Economies, Enriching Lives”.

In
a speech at the meeting, Al Habsi stressed the need to enhance economic
integration among member states and to better leverage member states’ big
potential and capabilities (including natural resources, the huge human capital
and the strategic geographic locations) in building strong trade relations and
investment networks that support sustainable and equitable development.

Al
Habsi also laid emphasis on the importance of supporting green economy and
investments in renewable energy.

Al
Habsi commended the Islamic Development Bank Group’s role in accelerating
financing, channeling investments to vital sectors and empowering the private
sector.

Events
held on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the Islamic Development Bank
Group brought together experts from governments and international and regional
organizations, as well as representatives of the private sector, academic and
civil society institutions.
