Participates in Sharjah International Book Fair
Sharjah,
5 Nov (ONA) — The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of
Information, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the Ministry of
Heritage and Tourism, and the National Records and Archives Authority, is
participating in the 44th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF)
in the United Arab Emirates.
The
event began its activities today under the auspices of Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed
Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and will continue
until 16 November at Expo Centre Sharjah.
The
Sultanate of Oman’s pavilion is exhibiting a selection of recent and diverse
publications in the fields of literary and historical production, covering
multiple literary, intellectual, artistic, scientific, and historical
specializations.
This
participation reflects the Sultanate of Oman’s commitment to strengthening
media and cultural cooperation with the UAE, its firm belief in the importance
of making Omani books available in Arab and international cultural forums,
enriching the intellectual and cultural product on the international stage, and
promoting the unique tourism components Oman boasts.
The
current session brings together more than 2,350 publishing houses, including
1,224 Arab and 1,126 foreign publishers, offering millions of titles and works
in various world languages. It also hosts more than 250 creators, writers, and
thinkers from 66 countries, presenting over 1,200 cultural, creative, and
artistic events.
This
year, the Fair celebrates Greece as the Guest of Honor, honoring one of the
oldest global civilizations and its pioneering role in enriching human
heritage. 58 Greek publishers and cultural institutions are participating,
showcasing 600 titles in Greek and other languages, along with over 70
prominent Greek figures, including writers, poets, translators, artists,
academics, musicians, and librarians.
