Oman, Rwanda Sign 4 Agreements, Cooperation Programmes

Muscat, 11 Jan 2026 (ONA) — The
Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Rwanda today signed four agreements and
cooperation programmes aimed at consolidating the two countries’ partnership
and expanding areas of collaboration in the fields of logistics, dry ports,
supply chains, data centers, cloud computing, infrastructure and artificial
intelligence (AI) projects and services.

The first agreement included a
cooperation programme in the field of logistic services and the operation of dry
ports and services related to supply chains. It aims to support
logistical integration and the exchange of expertise in this vital sector.

The second agreement deals with ways
to enhance cooperation in the fields of data centers, cloud computing,
infrastructure and artificial intelligence projects and services. It seeks to
enhance bilateral partnerships, building capacities, exchanging expertise and supporting
the development of relevant policies and legislation.

The third agreement provides for Oman Air’s launching direct flights between Muscat and Kigali. The agreement constitutes
a major step in facilitating travel, supporting trade and tourism and boosting
ties between the Sultanate of Oman and the African continent. The programme is
scheduled to begin with two weekly flights with effect from June 2026.

The fourth agreement includes a
memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Rwanda Development Board (RDB) and
Oman Airports Company. The MoU aims to enhance cooperation in the field of airport
development and management, exchanging expertise and exploring opportunities
for joint investment in the aviation sector and related infrastructure.

Eng. Said bin Hamoud Al Maawali,
Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, said that
the agreements signed by the two countries today form part of strategic objectives to expand international
partnerships in the sectors of transport, logistics and communications and
information technology, with emphasis on broadening economic activities into
East Africa.

The minister pointed out that the agreements reflect the strong bonds between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of
Rwanda and the two countries’ keenness to expand economic and technical
cooperation, enhance sustainable development, support regional integration and contribute
to the partnership between the Middle East and Africa in priority sectors.
