
Oman, Saudi Arabia Discuss Ways to Enhance Financial, Industrial
Cooperation
Muscat, 30 Sep (ONA) — Sultan Salim Al Habsi, Minister of Finance, held a meeting today with Dr. Saad Othman
Al Qasabi, Governor of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization
(SASO).
During the meeting, held at Oman
Convention and Exhibition Centre, the two sides discussed means of enhancing
bilateral cooperation and exchanged views about financial and economic affairs.
The meeting also dealt with means of
promoting industrial integration initiatives, facilitating the traffic of goods
and encouraging the private sector to boost supply chains. It touched on the
implementation of initiatives in the field of standards that serve industry and
meet the goals of Oman Vision 2040 and Vision 2030 of the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia.
The two sides underlined the importance
of the Rub-el-Khali border checkpoint, as well as Omani ports, in
supporting economic cooperation. They also laid emphasis on the need to develop
customs procedures in a manner that contributes to the falicitation of trade exchange
and the expansion of strategic partnerships between the two countries.
The meeting was attended by Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry
and Investment Promotion; Dr. Saleh Said Masan, Undersecretary of the
Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for Commerce and
Industry; Eng. Al-Badr Adel Fouda, Acting Undersecretary for
Empowerment at the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources in the Kingdom of
Saudi Arabia; Ibrahim Saad Bishan, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia to the Sultanate of Oman; and Sami Ibrahim Al-Hussaini, Governor of
the General Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in addition to government officials from the two countries.
