Signs Agreement in Cooperation With Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development
Muscat,
10 Nov (ONA) — The Government of the Sultanate of Oman today signed a financing
agreement with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) to
contribute to the financing of a project to establish the new Samail Hospital
in the A’Dakhiliyah Governorate.
The
agreement was signed by Sultan bin Salim Al Habsi, Minister of Finance, and on
behalf of the Fund by Waleed Shamlan Al Bahar, Acting Director General of the
Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.
The
project aims to enhance healthcare services in the Wilayat of Samail in A’Dakhiliyah
Governorate and neighboring areas, by establishing an integrated medical
edifice that meets the needs of citizens and residents in the Sultanate of
Oman.
This
project comes within the government’s efforts to develop the health sector and
improve the quality of provided medical services, by providing modern
facilities and specialized departments equipped with the latest medical devices
and equipment.
The
project will also contribute to raising the efficiency of medical and nursing staff
and reducing the pressure on referral hospitals in neighboring governorates,
thus enhancing the efficiency of the health system in the Sultanate of Oman.
The
new Samail Hospital will be established with a capacity of 170 beds, expandable
to 300 beds, with a building area of 65,804 thousand square meters and a total
area of 250,000 square meters.
The
implementation of this project is part of the expansion in the system of
providing comprehensive healthcare in various governorates of the Sultanate of
Oman, thereby achieving the strategic directions of the priorities of Oman
Vision 2040, through developing a leading health system with global standards
and opening wider fields for national cadres and capabilities for training and
qualification in medical fields.
