
Oman
to Host 2025 World Snooker Championship
Muscat,
30 Sep (ONA) — The Sultanate of Oman will host the Double World Snooker
Championship (Men’s and Team) from 15-23 November 2025, in Muscat.
The
event will feature the participation of over 120 players representing 35
countries.
Oman’s
winning bid was announced during a press conference held today at the Oman
Automobile Club. The championship will be supervised by the International
Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) and sponsored by the Ministry of
Culture, Sports and Youth, Sohar International bank, and Active Oman.
Khalid
bin Khalfan Al Sabahi, Chairman of the Oman Billiards and Snooker Committee,
said during the press conference that this achievement reflects the IBSF’s
confidence in Oman’s ability to organize major sports events according to the
highest standards. He affirmed that Oman’s bid surpassed those of several
competing countries due to its clear vision and integrated organizational plans,
noting that the upcoming edition is considered one of the largest in the
tournament’s history.
He
added that the Oman Billiards and Snooker Committee has paid special attention
to the national snooker team, preparing a comprehensive plan to ensure the players’
readiness for strong competition and to represent the Sultanate of Oman in the
best possible way.
He
stressed that the championship is an opportunity to showcase Oman’s civilized
image and enhance its position as a hub for hosting international events. It
will also undertake a role in boosting sports tourism and providing Omani youth
with the chance to engage with world stars of the sport.
The
Chairman of the Committee also indicated that the championship will receive
extensive media coverage across the IBSF platforms, accompanying international
media, and through the official channels of the Omani Committee, allowing fans
to follow the details of the tournament both inside and outside the Sultanate
of Oman.
