February 2026

Muscat, 9 Feb 2026 (ONA) — The
Sultanate of Oman is all set to host the Middle East Championship “Experience
Oman—Ironman 70.3 Muscat” from 13 to 14 February 2026. The event seeks to highlight
Oman as a major adventure destination and a leading hub for sports tourism in
the region.

The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism
is organizing the championship in cooperation with the Middle East
International Events Foundation. The event forms part of the Ironman 70.3 World
Series of races under the banner of IRONMAN Group, being one of the most
prominent triathlon races in the region. It offers qualifiers an opportunity to
compete in the 70.3 World Championships.

The hosting of the championship stems
from a partnership between the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and the IRONMAN Group International that extends until 2030.

Haitham Mohammed Al Ghassani,
Director General of Tourism Promotion at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, said
that hosting the “Experience Oman Ironman 70.3 Muscat” Championship constitutes a significant opportunity to highlight the unique tourism
assets that abound in the Sultanate of Oman and contributes to enhancing Oman’s
presence on the global sports tourism map.

Al Ghassani added that a 100% Omani
staff looks after the implementation of this global championship, which meets
the highest international standards and affirms the ability of national cadres to
manage major sporting events.

He pointed out that the championship
achieves a tangible economic impact by attracting participants, visitors and
media personnel from different countries of the world.

The championship features a standard
distance of 70.3 miles (approximately 113 kilometres), distributed over three
main stages set for the triathlon: Swimming, cycling and long-distance races. He
explained that the events comprise a 1.9-km swim in the waters of the Gulf of
Oman, a 90-km cycling race alongside Oman’s coast and picturesque landscapes
and a 21.1-km run (half marathon) that concludes along the beaches.
