Electricity Production Rises by 8.4%

Nov (ONA) — The total electricity production in the Sultanate of Oman increased
by 8.4% by the end of September 2025, reaching 41,164.9 gigawatt-hours,
compared to 37,959.3 gigawatt-hours during the same period in 2024.

Preliminary
data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information also
indicated an 8.2% rise in Oman’s net electricity production – which includes
purchases by Oman Power and Water Procurement Company and purchases by the
Rural Areas Electricity Company across its regions – reaching 39,973.6
gigawatt-hours by the end of September 2025, compared to 36,944.8
gigawatt-hours by the end of September 2024.

On the other
hand, the total water production in the Sultanate of Oman by the end of
September 2025 saw a slight decrease of 0.6%, reaching approximately
387,702,100 cubic meters, compared to 390,197,000 cubic meters during the same
period last year.

At the
governorate level, the Governorate of Muscat experienced an 11.2% decline in
water production, recording 154,377,500 cubic meters, compared to 173,854,700
cubic meters last year. In contrast, water production in the Dhofar Governorate
increased by 3.8%, reaching 57,516,100 cubic meters. Water production in the rest
of the governorates also rose by 9.3%, registering 175,808,500 cubic meters,
compared to 160,919,500 cubic meters by the end of September 2024.
