Pakistan Welcomes US President’s Offer to Resolve Kashmir Dispute with IndiaIslamabad, 11 May (ONA) — Pakistan today welcomed US President Donald
Trump’s offer to play a role in the resolution of the Kashmir dispute
– a longstanding issue between India and Pakistan that has brought
the nuclear-armed neighbors to the brink of war.
“We also appreciate President Trump’s expressed willingness to
support efforts aimed at the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir
dispute,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Reaffirming its long-held position, Pakistan said any lasting
solution must be based on relevant UN Security Council resolutions
and the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
Earlier, President Trump praised leadership of the two countries for
“historic and heroic” decision of ceasefire.
“I will work with you both to see if, after a ‘thousand years,’ a
solution can be arrived at concerning Kashmir,” said Trump in a post
on his Truth Social platform.
