for Development Agreement Signed Between Ministry of Finance, Huawei

Muscat,
28 Sep (ONA) — The Ministry of Finance today signed a Partnership for
Development (Offset) program agreement with Huawei.

The
agreement was signed on behalf of the Ministry of Finance by Mahmoud Abdullah
Al Owaini, Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance and Chairman of the
Board of Trustees of the Partnership for Development Program. It was signed on
behalf of Huawei by David Shi, CEO of Huawei Oman.

The
agreement includes the implementation of three main projects. The first project
aims to train 5,000 beneficiaries, including students, graduates, and
employees, over five years in the field of Information and Communication
Technology. The second project involves establishing six innovation labs in
cooperation with a number of Omani higher education institutions to support
research, development, and encourage innovation.

The
third project aims to provide 100 specialized training opportunities annually
for two years, totaling 200 trainees, to prepare and qualify Omani youth in the
fields of 5G technologies, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing
according to the latest global practices.

The
Partnership for Development (Offset) Program at the Ministry of Finance aims to
transfer modern technology from committed companies and build national
capacities and competencies across all sectors. This is achieved through
knowledge transfer and best practices established by the partnership
relationships that the Ministry of Finance maintains with leading institutions
and companies worldwide.
