Khartoum, July 31, 2026 (SUNA) – Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris on Friday chaired an expanded meeting in Khartoum attended by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Culture, Information and Tourism, Finance, Agriculture and Irrigation, and Animal Resources and Fisheries, in addition to the Prime Minister’s Special Representative, Dr. Al-Hussein Al-Khalifa Al-Siddiq Al-Hafyan, the Prime Minister’s Adviser, Nizar Abdullah Mohamed, the Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan (CBOS), and the Governor of the Gezira Scheme. Speaking to the press, the Governor of the Gezira Scheme, Engineer Ibrahim Mustafa, said that the development of the Gezira Scheme is among the top priorities of the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and the Prime Minister of the Government of Hope. He stressed the importance of increasing production and the Scheme’s revenues to support its modernization and development.He explained that the meeting discussed the requirements for ensuring the success of the summer agricultural season at the Gezira Scheme. He added that the meeting endorsed the provision of all requirements for the summer season, particularly ensuring the uninterrupted supply of petroleum products for irrigation operations at the Gezira Scheme.Engineer Ibrahim Mustafa further noted that the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Sudan affirmed during the meeting their readiness to implement an urgent plan to ensure the success of the summer agricultural season at the Gezira Scheme.BH/BH
