Kamil Idris: Revival of Sajana Market Signals Return of Work and HopeKhartoum, Feb. 1, 2026 (SUNA) – Prime Minister Professor Kamil Idris has directed the concerned bodies in the Government of Hope to intensify efforts to combat illegal collection practices, instructing the establishment of a dedicated window at the Council of Ministers and the allocation of hotline numbers to receive citizens’ complaints.The directives were issued during the Prime Minister’s visit on Saturday to Sajana Market, reflecting the Government of Hope’s focus on livelihoods and the quality of basic services. He was accompanied by Prime Minister’s Advisor Ambassador Badr-Eddin Al-Jie’afari and Minister of Animal Resources and Fisheries, Professor Ahmed Al-Tijani Al-Mansouri.The Prime Minister was warmly received by citizens and traders, who gathered spontaneously and chanted, “One Army, One People.” He toured the market and commended traders for their reconstruction initiative, which enabled the resumption of commercial activity.Professor Idris underscored that citizens’ livelihoods, security, and access to water, electricity, and sanitation are top government priorities. He stressed the need to pay fees and complete transactions exclusively through legal channels and approved electronic systems, directing state Walis to closely follow up on easing livelihoods and service delivery.He also instructed the Tax Chamber to grant Sajana Market traders a grace period to regularize their status before tax collection resumes, urging traders to maintain modest profit margins and keep prices reasonable to ease the burden on citizens. “The return of Sajana Market to commercial activity,” he said, “represents the return of work and hope.”Traders and residents welcomed the visit, saying it had a positive impact and reaffirmed the Government of Hope’s commitment to citizens’ concerns.AS/BH
