Amman, Dec. 3 (Petra) – Her Royal Highness Princess Aya bint Faisal was appointed president of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) on Wednesday, succeeding interim president Fabio Azevedo.
Princess Aya has long-standing experience in volleyball governance, having served as a member of the FIVB Board of Directors and as an ambassador for the organization. She also serves as president of the Jordan Volleyball Federation, a member of the Jordan Olympic Committee Board of Directors, and a member of the FIVB Board of Directors.
On this occasion, Princess Aya underscored the essential role of sports in skill-building and strengthening community engagement, noting her commitment to advancing the Foundation’s global programs and initiatives.
For his part, Azevedo highlighted Princess Aya’s contributions to the Foundation’s projects and expressed confidence in her leadership for the next phase.
The appointment is expected to reinforce the Foundation’s efforts to expand and develop its programs and enhance the reach and impact of volleyball in communities worldwide.
