Doha, August 02 (QNA) – The Public Prosecution, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, has launched a self-service platform for inmates in penal and correctional institutions, enabling them to communicate directly and securely with the Public Prosecution.

The platform allows inmates to submit requests through smart devices powered by AI, which have been installed in penal and correctional institutions. The system ensures that requests are transmitted directly to the Public Prosecution for prompt, confidential, and efficient review and processing, strengthening the legal safeguards afforded to inmates, protecting their rights, and reinforcing confidence in the justice system. 
The Public Prosecution said that the initiative reflects the State of Qatar’s longstanding commitment to promoting and protecting human rights. It also forms part of the Public Prosecution’s digital transformation strategy, which seeks to maximize the use of smart technologies to enhance judicial services, uphold the principles of justice and transparency, and fulfill its mandate to safeguard the rights of inmates in correctional institutions.

The digital platform offers several features, including a secure and independent login for each inmate and allowing requests to be submitted by voice in the language of the inmate’s choice. It also enables inmates to listen to their recorded requests using a dedicated headset, ensuring the highest levels of confidentiality and protecting the privacy of the submitted information. 

In addition, the platform enables the Sentences Enforcement Prosecution to receive requests directly from inmates, decide on them, and notify inmates of the outcome through the same platform. It also allows inmates to submit all Public Prosecution public service requests, view their case reports and the procedures taken in relation to them, and access the Public Prosecution’s responses in the same language in which their requests were submitted.
