Amman, Jan. 18 (Petra) – The Public Security Directorate (PSD) on Sunday warned against the incorrect use of heating devices, especially in light of the expected low temperatures in the coming days and the increased use of various types of heaters.
The PSD called on the public to follow proper usage methods, inspect heaters before use, avoid sleeping while they are on, ventilate homes regularly, and not bring heaters into bathrooms. It also cautioned against the use of wood stoves to prevent suffocation incidents.
Citizens were urged not to allow children to play near heaters and to avoid placing heaters in inappropriate locations or near flammable furniture to prevent fire hazards.
The PSD emphasized the importance of maintaining heaters, checking the hoses connecting gas cylinders to gas heaters, and ensuring there are no cracks or bends that could cause gas leaks and potential house fires.
Residents were reminded to contact the unified emergency number (911) if needed.
