Damascus, April 07 (QNA) – Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has announced the launch of phase one of its emergency humanitarian aid project for displaced families in southern Syria.

According to QRCS’s press release on Tuesday, heating oil is being distributed to internally displaced people (IDPs) from Sweida who moved to Sweida’s rural areas, Daraa, Latakia, and Tartus, with distribution being conducted in cooperation with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent Society (SARCS).

Aimed at alleviating the suffering of displaced families and improving their living conditions, the project involves distributing thousands of food and nonfood items (NFIs) to the most vulnerable people, reaching 40,000 beneficiaries in the aforementioned cities.

The project involves distributing a total of 1,288,000 liters of heating oil to target families to serve their heating needs and other household uses.

This is expected to enhance the food security and living conditions of vulnerable families, especially children and older persons.

QRCS said that this aid project comes as part of its ongoing efforts to support the people of Syria and mitigate the impact of humanitarian crisis there, with relief programs designed to strengthen the resilience of vulnerable people amid the currently difficult conditions.

It pointed out that there are plans to provide further food and NFI assistance for displaced and impoverished people in Syria, reaching 82,500 beneficiaries over three months, as well as clothing coupons for 3,500 people families. (QNA)
