Port Sudan, 16-3-2026 (SUNA) – The Wali of Red Sea State, Lt. Gen. Mustafa Mohamed Noor, met today, Monday, with the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to Sudan, Ambassador Zhang Xianghua, at his office at the Government Secretariat in Port Sudan. The two sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and promote areas of joint cooperation. In a press statement following the meeting, Mr. Zhang Xianghua expressed his pleasure at the meeting, which he described as taking place in an atmosphere of cordiality and mutual respect. He noted that the discussions focused on developing mechanisms for cooperation between China and Sudan in general, and with Red Sea State in particular, on issues of shared interest.The Chinese Chargé d’Affaires revealed that his government had provided a financial grant of USD 10,000 to the Red Sea State government to support its efforts in combating epidemics and strengthening the state’s health sector.On the cultural front, Mr. Zhang noted that this year marks the “Year of Cultural and Humanitarian Exchange between China and Africa”, highlighting that a series of cultural events will be organized in Sudan. These include the “Thank You China” event in collaboration with the Sudanese Peoples Association, scheduled for April, and the “Chinese Language Bridge” competition for Sudanese university students, which is set to begin this March.The Chargé d’Affaires concluded by affirming China’s commitment to maintaining continuous communication and coordination with the Red Sea State government to implement all agreed-upon initiatives, in a manner that serves the interests of both friendly peoples.BH/BH
