Rights Monitor Denounces Israeli Seizure of Palestinian Refugee Camps in Northern West BankGeneva, 25 Feb (QNA) — The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights
Monitor condemned the Israeli occupation’s orders to seize control of
three Palestinian refugee camps in northern West Bank and bar their
residents from returning.
In a statement, the Monitor described the move as a dangerous
escalation of Israel’s apartheid policies and forced displacement of
Palestinians. It highlighted a public declaration by Israel’s Defense
Minister, announcing expulsion of around 40,000 Palestinian refugees
from Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nur Shams camps.
The Monitor stressed that these actions amount to war crimes and
crimes against humanity, as Israeli occupation forces carry out military
operations in these areas using tactics that blatantly violate
international law. It noted that the military is systematically
demolishing these areas without any legitimate military
justification, with bulldozers carving new roads through the ruins of
destroyed homes and plans underway to establish military sites in an
attempt to alter the regions geography.
The organization warned that the lack of accountability and justice
only emboldens further violations, posing a grave threat not just to
Palestinian rights, but to the stability of the international system
as a whole.— Ends/Khalid
