Doha, February 20 (QNA) – Defending champion Andrey Rublev said he is determined to retain his title at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open after reaching the semi-finals with a straight-sets win over Stefanos Tsitsipas.
The fifth seed described the victory as hard-fought, saying he had to make the most of every opportunity to overcome a tough challenge. Rublev now faces world number one Carlos Alcaraz in what he called a real test and a major challenge.
Meanwhile, France’s Arthur Fils advanced to the last four after beating Jiri Lehecka 6-3, 6-3. Fils said the match was harder than the scoreline suggested and expressed satisfaction at reaching the semi-finals in Doha after a lengthy injury lay-off.
He will face the winner of the quarter-final between Italy’s Jannik Sinner and Czech 16th seed Jakub Mensik. (QNA)
