Amman, Nov. 16 (Petra) — President of the Senate Faisal Fayez met Sunday at the Senate with the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation in Jordan, Yann Fridez, for discussions on the organization’s humanitarian operations in the region and its support for communities affected by conflicts.
Fayez highlighted the ICRC’s efforts and its substantial humanitarian role, stressing the importance of sustaining support for populations impacted by conflicts, as well as advancing humanitarian work related to the protection and preservation of human rights.
He also presented an overview of the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the repercussions of the Israeli occupation’s aggression, noting that the ongoing war on Gaza constitutes a clear violation of international humanitarian law.
For his part, Fridez detailed the ICRC’s work in Jordan since 1967 and expressed deep appreciation for Jordan’s role in promoting adherence to international humanitarian law and supporting regional logistical operations launched from Amman, which serves as a key hub for aid distribution.
