Social Development Ministry, WFP sign cooperation agreement

Amman, January 22 (Petra) – Minister of Social Development, Wafa Bani Mustafa, and UN World Food Programme (WFP) Resident Representative Alberto Correia Mendes on Wednesday signed a cooperation agreement to enhance social services provided to the target groups under the ministry’s initiatives.

Expressing “pride” for the “effective” partnership with WFP, Bani Mustafa noted the joint cooperation serves goals of the ministry and National Aid Fund (NAF) to provide services in the “best and fastest” possible way.

Bani Mustafa also highlighted the importance of cooperation for services in multiple areas with WFP, which are an “integral” part of the ministry’s and the fund’s programs, and the current and updated National Strategy for Social Protection.

The ministry, she noted, is working to implement collaboration areas within the visions and goals indicated by the Royal directives in the Letter of Designation to government of Dr. Jaafar Hassan.

Bani Mustaf added that joint cooperation will feature steps to develop the ministry’s and the fund’s programs for building livelihoods and enhancing productivity.

The effort, she noted, also eyes to strengthen transformational systems in developing the comprehensive framework for the Jordanian side’s follow-up, evaluation and results, improving the complaints and feedback mechanism, and boosting emergency preparedness to respond to emergencies.

Voicing aspiration to continue partnership with WFP, she praised efforts of the programme’s team and employees in the Ministry and the NAF to achieve “better” levels in the social services field.

In the same context, NAF Director General, Khitam Shneikat, and Mendes signed a joint cooperation agreement.

Meanwhile, Mendes commended cooperation with the Jordanian side, underscoring the importance of continuing all cooperation channels in the future.
