SSC Shares Digital Transformation Expertise with Iraq

Amman, Feb. 3 (Petra) — Director General of the Social Security Corporation (SSC), Mohammad Saleh Al-Tarawneh, emphasized the institution’s readiness to share its digital transformation and insurance expertise with Arab countries, particularly Iraq.

During a meeting with a delegation from Iraq, which included members from the National Retirement Authority and the Iraqi Pension Fund, Al-Tarawneh highlighted the Corporation’s commitment to technological advancements and its robust digital services aimed at enhancing public service delivery.

Al-Tarawneh noted that the SSC has embraced rapid technological advancements, especially in digital transformation, to meet the needs of its clients. He underlined the importance of developing innovative solutions for managing and monitoring the evolving relationship between workers and employers, particularly in light of new work patterns where many young workers engage with international companies. He stressed that the traditional time-and-location-based work model is no longer applicable.

Mohammad Ghazi Al-Obeidi, representing the Iraqi National Retirement Authority, acknowledged the SSC as a key partner in advancing the electronic services system for Iraq’s pension sector. He praised Jordan’s progress in social insurance and highlighted the Iraqi team’s goal of adapting Jordan’s expertise to improve Iraq’s pension system.

Al-Obeidi further explained that the visit was part of a technical support program established by the Iraqi National Retirement Authority. The focus will be on legislative reforms, especially given the challenges facing Iraq’s pension system. The Iraqi team is collaborating with the World Bank, the International Labour Organization, and other entities to enhance pension laws and policies.

Khaled Mohieddin, representing the World Bank, discussed the need to transition retirement services to electronic platforms, citing some outdated and inactive services within Iraq’s system. The Iraqi delegation is keen to learn from Jordan’s digital transformation experience and implement similar reforms.

Ahmad Obeid, Director of the Actuarial Studies Department at SSC, presented on the institution’s economic and social roles, showcasing its legislative developments and the expansion of social protection coverage. He provided an overview of the benefits provided under the Social Security Law and shared statistical data on the institution’s services.

Mohammad Hussein, Director of Networks at the SSC’s Information Technology Department, gave a presentation on the Corporation’s digital infrastructure and its advancements in providing services.
