Amman, Febr 1 (Petra) — Some 58,000 products were disposed of in 2024 for failure to meet Jordanian specifications and technical standards, and 237 judicial orders were served for violating establishments, including 151 referred to the Attorney General, plus 73 warnings, according to Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization (JSMO).
The products seized included detergents and cosmetics, electrical items such as plugs and connectors, mixers and water valves, clothing and footwear, children’s toys, vehicle oils and spare parts, JSMO Director General Abeer Al-Zuhair said Saturday.
She said the organization carried out 2,350 inspection tours of shops, warehouses and factories across the Kingdom last year, covering 7,650 establishments, during which 8,550 products were checked.
Al-Zuheir also stressed that elevators in residential buildings and commercial facilities meet the organization’s safety requirements, adding that 3,750 elevators were checked last year.
