Sudan Outlines Digital Transformation Pathway at Arab Telecommunications Ministers Council

Cairo, January 22, 2026 (SUNA) – During his participation in the 29th session of the Arab Telecommunications and Information Ministers Council in Cairo, Minister of Digital Transformation and Communications Engineer Ahmed Dirdiri Ghandour outlined the core pillars of Sudan’s telecommunications and digital transformation pathway.He said the strategy is anchored in empowering citizens and youth for a better future, strengthening the readiness of government and institutions through digital governance, building trust and stability in the digital environment, and aligning national policies with regional and international frameworks.The minister affirmed that this pathway is being implemented in a practical and gradual manner, contributing to improved service efficiency, enhanced institutional performance, and expanded opportunities for participation in the digital economy. In this context, he announced the launch of the Sudanese Cybersecurity Authority as the national reference body responsible for governing and regulating cybersecurity—an institutional step that supports secure digital transformation and strengthens the state’s preparedness for the future.In concluding his remarks, the minister stressed that “when technology is managed with vision and responsibility, it becomes a tool for empowering people and building a more stable and sustainable future.”BH/BH
