Sudan’s Embassy in Tokyo Briefs Japanese Ruling Party Leaders on Sudanese Peace Initiative

Tokyo, Jan. 21, 2026 (SUNA) – The Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to Japan, Al-Rayah Haidob, met yesterday with the Head of the Foreign Affairs Secretariat of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party and a member of the Japanese Parliament, Mr. Takagi Ki.During the meeting, Ambassador Haidob briefed Mr. Takagi on the Sudanese peace initiative presented by Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris to the United Nations Security Council. He outlined its core pillars, including a ceasefire, security arrangements, the unification of national authority, the principle of accountability without impunity, national recovery, and the consolidation of national ranks. The Ambassador underscored Sudan’s hope for Japan’s support of the initiative.The Ambassador also expressed Sudan’s gratitude for Japan’s ongoing humanitarian and development assistance and urged continued support for reconstruction efforts.In response, Mr. Takagi highlighted Sudan’s geopolitical significance and its role in regional and Red Sea security.
