Entrepreneurship Forum “Al Wusta Innovates” Launched in Duqm

Duqm,
17 Nov 2025 (ONA) — The Third Entrepreneurship Forum titled “Al Wusta
Innovates” was launched today in the Wilayat of Duqm, Al Wusta Governorate,
under the auspices of Sheikh Dr. Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidy, Chairman of the
Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ).

Dr.
Salim bin Sulayem Al Junaibi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Oman
Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) in Al Wusta Governorate, emphasized in
his speech the importance of empowering entrepreneurial ideas and developing
innovation ecosystems. He noted that Al Wusta Governorate is moving steadily
towards becoming an attractive environment for entrepreneurial projects and new
economies.

The
two-day forum witnessed the signing of three strategic Memorandums of
Understanding (MoUs) aimed at supporting the innovation ecosystem in the
Governorate.

The
first MoU was signed between the Office of the Governor of Al Wusta and the Al
Wusta branch of the OCCI to support the directives of Oman Vision 2040 in
innovation and youth empowerment.

The
second MoU is a cooperation agreement between the Al Wusta branch of the OCCI
and the Directorate General of Education in the Governorate, aimed at
supporting student company programs and developing students’ innovation skills.

The
third agreement was signed between Al Wusta branch of the OCCI and the
“Nahaj” platform to follow up and develop 10 promising innovations
during 2026 and enhance the innovation environment in the Governorate.

During
the forum, a visual presentation titled “Innovation: From Idea to
Reality” was delivered. It reviewed the journey of an entrepreneurial idea
from its inception to the stage of implementation and expansion in the economy.
The forum also hosted the innovator Yassin Al Mafraji, who presented an
inspiring experience about his innovation journey and the challenges he faced
in transforming his idea into a viable and scalable project.
