Madaba, Sept 2 (Petra) – Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Imad Hijazin on Tuesday met representatives of the tourism sector, local associations and community members at the Madaba Institute for Mosaic Art and Restoration to discuss the main challenges facing the governorate’s tourism industry.

Hijazin said Madaba has proven itself as a leading tourist destination thanks to its historical, religious and cultural assets, noting projects implemented by the ministry to upgrade infrastructure and services.

He pointed to efforts to tap new tourism markets in Asia, Africa and the Arab world, while strengthening partnerships with municipalities, universities and local institutions to cement Madaba’s status as a global hub for mosaic art.

On the sidelines of the visit, the minister spoke with several tourists about their experience in Madaba and heard their feedback. He said visitors’ opinions are a “true mirror of the quality of services” and a starting point for developing tourism products that meet expectations and reinforce Jordan’s standing as a preferred destination.

Hijazin also listened to proposals from sector workers and associations, stressing the ministry’s commitment to engaging local communities in tourism projects to help boost incomes and create jobs. He said the ministry will continue to follow up on such suggestions through regular visits to the governorate.
