TSC Member Jabir Affirms State Commitment to Continue Reconstruction in Loyalty to Martyrs’ Souls

Omdurman, Feb. 8, 2026 (SUNA) – Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and Head of the Higher Committee for Preparing the Environment for Return to Khartoum State, Lt. Gen. Eng. Ibrahim Jabir Ibrahim, affirmed that the state will not retreat from the path of reconstruction and rebuilding in loyalty to the souls of the martyrs who sacrificed for the nation. His remarks came during the inauguration of Al Salam Bank – Omdurman’s Al-Souk-al-Shaabi Branch, in the presence of Khartoum Wali Ahmed Othman Hamza, Central Bank of Sudan Governor (CBOS) Amina Mirghani, members of the Khartoum State government, and a large gathering of Al-Souk-al-Shaabi traders. TSC Member Jabir stated that the presence of Al Salam Bank in this vital area — which includes Al-Souk-al-Shaabi, Omdurman Market, and the industrial zone — represents a critical requirement for enhancing the effectiveness of financial services delivery to beneficiaries. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing financial transfer platforms and electronic banking, and to implementing comprehensive financial inclusion policies aimed at reducing currency printing costs and expanding app-based banking transactions. He also disclosed plans by the government and the Central Bank to establish a unified control and audit unit in April covering all banks and financial institutions. The TSC Member called on Al Salam Bank’s management to enter partnerships with the government to finance energy projects and develop transportation services, commending the bank’s leadership and staff for their efforts in resuming operations. For her part, CBOS Governor Amina Mirghani said the sacrifices of the armed forces and supporting units in defeating the rebels and restoring security constituted the essential foundation for the return of banking sector activity, describing the reopening of Al Salam Bank as a practical embodiment of the return of development programmes. She reviewed CBOS policies that withstood recent challenges and confirmed that banks are permitted to finance reconstruction programmes. She reiterated the Central Bank’s commitment to supporting the banking system and encouraging expansion to ensure services reach all segments of society, urging broad participation in national rebuilding efforts. Khartoum Wali Ahmed Othman Hamza welcomed the reopening of the branch and announced that electricity service and other essential services will soon be restored to Al-Souk-al-Shaabi area. He called on banks to contribute to reconstruction efforts, particularly in road rehabilitation and lighting, and urged financial institutions to simplify procedures and facilitate banking services for citizens. Meanwhile, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Salam Bank – Sudan, Abdul-Rahman Ahmed Abdullah Sinan, commended the bank’s ongoing qualitative transformation aimed at delivering enhanced services in line with the next phase.BH/BH
