Asmara, July 17, 2026 (SUNA) – President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, arrived in the Eritrean capital, Asmara, on Friday on a fraternal visit reflecting the close ties between the peoples of Sudan and Eritrea. Al-Burhan was received at Asmara International Airport by Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki.The two leaders reviewed the course of bilateral relations and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between Khartoum and Asmara across various fields. They also reaffirmed the importance of further consolidating the longstanding fraternal ties between the two countries. The visit underscores Sudan’s commitment to deepening relations with neighboring Eritrea and reflects the high level of coordination between the two leaderships on regional and international issues, as well as their shared efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.BH/BH
