Amman, Jan. 13 (Petra)– Raghda Faouri, Chairperson of the Technical and Vocational Skills Development Commission (TVSDC), signed memorandums of understanding (MoU) on Monday with five companies operating in Tafileh Industrial City, in collaboration with the Jordan Industrial Estates Company (JIEC). The agreements aim to encourage investment and create job opportunities for Jordanians in Tafileh Governorate (northern Jordan).
According to a TVSDC statement, the agreements involve funding five private-sector companies to train and employ Jordanians in industries such as plastics, sanitary paper, charcoal production, and innovative agricultural practices (compost production).
Faouri noted that these partnerships align with a Cabinet decision to include Tafileh Industrial City in the productive branches program, which supports the employment of local labor, in addition to approving a package of investment incentives for the city. Under the agreements, the TVSDC will subsidize 50% of the minimum wage for trainees and employees, plus JD25 for social security contributions and JD25 for transportation.
JIEC General Manager, Omar Jweaed, emphasized the company’s commitment to developing the industrial sector and fostering collaborations with public and private entities to create jobs and advance the national industrial framework in line with the economic modernization vision, which positions the sector as a primary investment hub.
