Amman, Jan 13 (Petra) – The “Inclusive Security and Resilient Youth Project – Mirsah”, funded by the UK Government’s Integrated Security Fund and implemented by Mercy Corps Jordan, launched several youth initiatives under the “Nature Club” and “Civic Engagement” programs.
According to a statement released on Monday, 20 community youth leaders participated in the launch at Zakhoum Charity Association in Karak and the “We Participate for Civic Engagement” Center in Zarqa, in collaboration with local institutions.
The project aims to foster coexistence, build psychological and social resilience among youth and their families, and equip them with leadership skills to promote positive values within their communities. This initiative seeks to achieve intellectual and comprehensive development that contributes to the progress of these communities.
Project Director Rawan Mamkegh emphasized the importance of these initiatives and the collaborative efforts between youth and local partners in driving meaningful, positive change. She highlighted that such partnerships empower communities and inspire youth-led innovation.
Mamkegh stressed the significance of sustaining youth-oriented projects and initiatives to support this vital demographic by providing them with the spaces and resources needed to unleash their creativity and entrepreneurial ideas, ensuring a better future for all.
Key initiatives under the “Nature Club” included the creation of the website “envo-jo.com,” aimed at raising environmental awareness by publishing informative content on climate change, environmental protection, and promoting the “Leave No Trace” principle, which advocates for sustainable environmental practices. Additionally, an interactive book on youth mental health was developed to raise awareness and offer practical daily strategies to enhance mental well-being.
Other initiatives involved launching platforms that provide valuable insights and experiences for youth, in collaboration with the Green Lotus Environmental Organization, the Cloud Foundation for Environment Protection, and volunteer Sarar Khawaja.
The launch event also featured a panel discussion with experts in mental health and social behavior, exploring the impact of social media on youth and offering solutions and strategies for its appropriate use.
