Amman, Nov. 17 (Petra) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday signed a declaration of intent that lays the groundwork for Ukraine’s future acquisition of 100 French Rafale fighter jets, along with next-generation air-defense systems marking a potential first for Kyiv.
According to Agence France-Presse, the Elysée Palace said the agreement, which spans roughly a decade, opens the door to future contracts enabling Ukraine to procure new French defense equipment. This includes “around 100 Rafale aircraft with their weapons systems,” as well as additional platforms such as the new SAMP-T air-defense system currently under development, radar systems, and drones.
