UN announces readiness to deliver humanitarian aid in Gaza following ceasefire

Amman, Jan. 18 (Petra)– The UN Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Muhannad Hadi, announced the UN and its partners are intensifying efforts to provide humanitarian aid following the ceasefire in Gaza.

In a statement on Saturday, Hadi emphasized the urgency of addressing the needs of Gaza’s population, who have endured prolonged crises. “Every second counts,” he stressed, urging swift action to meet the critical needs of Gaza residents.

Hadi commended discussions with mediators in Cairo and the agreements reached regarding the humanitarian aspects of the first phase. This includes delivering essential supplies such as water, food, healthcare, and shelter to Gaza’s residents, as well as securing the long-awaited release of hostages.

He expressed gratitude for the trust placed in the UN and its partners by mediators and all involved parties, enabling the delivery of humanitarian assistance outlined in the agreements.

Hadi underscored the importance of collective efforts to achieve humanitarian goals, noting that successful implementation of aid projects requires extensive collaboration among all stakeholders.

He reaffirmed the UN’s commitment to supporting the transition to the second phase of assistance and achieving a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

Hadi called on mediators, involved parties, community leaders, and the international community to work together to ensure timely and effective delivery of aid, underlining the importance of adhering to humanitarian principles to save lives and address the basic needs of those affected.
