Khartoum, Jan. 29, 2026 (SUNA) – Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry Dr. Awad Salam affirmed the government’s readiness to provide all necessary facilities to the GIAD Group, stressing that GIAD represents the backbone and future of national industry.Speaking at the ceremony marking the reopening of GIAD Motor Services Company at its headquarters in Khartoum, Dr. Salam said the defense industries system has played a key role in reconstruction and rebuilding efforts, underscoring that all stakeholders are partners in Sudan’s renewal in a new phase defined by resilience and progress.He noted that GIAD remains one of Sudan’s foremost national institutions, a source of determination and achievement, and a partner in serving citizens—particularly through cooperation with the health sector in combating disease vectors.For his part, Director of GIAD Company Maj. Gen. Engineer Kamal-Eddin Abbas Bakheet said the reopening coincides with celebrations of Sudan’s independence, praising the Armed Forces and supporting units for safeguarding the country. He added that the facility, once severely damaged, has now been restored and returned stronger than before.Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of the GIAD Group Abdullah Abdal-Maarouf said the group aims to expand its operations across all states of Sudan, affirming GIAD’s readiness for partnerships nationwide. He disclosed that GIAD has entered partnerships in River Nile and Red Sea states and is open to further cooperation.Abdal-Maarouf also announced the production of a GIAD electric vehicle, revealing that its official launch will soon take place in Khartoum. He said a contract has been signed for 1,000 vehicles in four models, with a driving range of up to 1,100 kilometres.
